Athena, our old online catalog, served us well – but it’s time for a change. That change is embodied in “Destiny”. Click on the Destiny link in the third column at the right to see for your self. New features include:
– TitlePeak – cover illustrations linked to most titles
– Webpath express. Great websites on any topic you’re searching for
– OneSearch (in development) – Search our subcription databases along with books and websites.

The new catalog seems functional which is really all it has to be. Title peek is an interesting add-on that I’ve seen applied to other online library catalogs and which I was disappointed find lacking in Athena. Although I know the cover shouldn’t be the deciding factor when choosing what a person want’s to read, it’s always enjoyable looking at the cover to get a better idea of what’s inside, even if it’s not always accurate.
WebPath Express seems like a good resource for those wanting to research a topic within their reading range quickly. Although the EBSCO and Newsbank websites are informative and better for specific research for projects that require professional and trusted sources, they are more cumbersome than WebPath because of the many different options and passwords. There is such thing as too much of a good thing I guess.
I’ve yet to experience OneSearch but it’ll probably useful and easy to access as the two other applications above.

Thanks for your comments. So far we’re well pleased with Destiny.
We agree that book covers should not be the deciding factor in whether a reader “clicks-throug”, but it IS a factor – and we’re glad to have it. We’re just beginning to use WebPath Express, and we’re still working on setting up OneSearch.
We’re “Edging Ahead”, as I blog regularly about at http://edgingahead.edublogs.org . -rjr-
